General Requirements
• Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.
• Manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatically correct academic English.
• Submissions must comply with the Focus and Scope of the Journal of Applied Science and Technology in Engineering (JASTE).
• Every manuscript must present a clearly defined engineering or technological problem, appropriate technical, experimental, analytical, or computational methods, measurable validation, originality, and a relevant technical contribution.
• Studies applied to health, education, agriculture, industry, environmental management, business, or public services may be considered only when their main problem, methodology, validation, and contribution are clearly grounded in engineering or technology.
• Authors are fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical compliance of their manuscripts.
-
Types of Manuscripts
JASTE accepts the following types of manuscripts:
• Original Research Articles;
• Applied Engineering Studies;
• Experimental or Computational Studies;
• Systematic Reviews and Scoping Reviews;
• Conceptual or Methodological Studies; and
• Technical Case Studies with measurable engineering or technological contributions.
Community service reports without rigorous engineering methods, measurable technical validation, and a substantive technological contribution are outside the journal’s scope.
-
Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should generally contain:
• Title;
• Author names and affiliations;
• Corresponding author’s email address;
• Abstract of 150–250 words;
• Three to five keywords;
• Introduction;
• Methods or System Design;
• Results and Discussion;
• Conclusion;
• Acknowledgments, if applicable;
• Funding statement;
• Conflict-of-interest statement;
• Data-availability statement; and
• References.
Systematic reviews, scoping reviews, conceptual studies, and technical case studies may use a structure appropriate to their study design, provided that the methodology, evidence, analysis, validation, and engineering contribution are clearly presented.
-
Formatting Guidelines
• Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
• Paper size: A4 with standard margins.
• Font: Times New Roman, 11 point.
• Line spacing: 1.15.
• Recommended manuscript length: 5,000–8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
• Pages must be numbered consecutively.
• The International System of Units (SI) must be used wherever applicable.
• Authors must use the official JASTE manuscript template.
-
Engineering and Technical Requirements
The manuscript must clearly explain:
• The engineering or technological problem;
• The novelty and technical contribution;
• The research method, experiment, simulation, system design, algorithm, hardware, software, instrument, material, or dataset used;
• The testing and validation procedures;
• The relevant performance indicators or benchmarks;
• The accuracy, reliability, limitations, uncertainty, or boundary conditions of the findings; and
• The contribution to engineering practice, system development, or technological innovation.
Manuscripts that merely describe a technology without rigorous methods, measurable evaluation, or a demonstrable technical contribution may be rejected during initial editorial screening.
-
Citations and References
• References must follow APA 7th Edition.
• All in-text citations must appear in the reference list, and all listed references must be cited in the manuscript.
• Authors should prioritize relevant, recent, peer-reviewed, and authoritative scientific literature.
• Reference-management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is strongly recommended.
-
Tables, Figures, and Equations
• Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and cited in the text.
• Every table and figure must have a clear title or caption.
• Images, graphs, circuit diagrams, system architectures, and technical illustrations must be clear and of sufficient resolution.
• Equations must be presented clearly and numbered when referenced in the text.
• All variables, symbols, abbreviations, and units of measurement must be defined.
• Authors must obtain permission to reproduce copyrighted materials.
-
Submission and Peer-Review Process
• Manuscripts must be submitted through the JASTE online submission system.
• The review manuscript must be anonymized by removing author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and other identifying information.
• Complete author information must be entered separately in the submission metadata.
• All manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening, similarity checking, and double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.
• Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewer and editor comments.
• Revised manuscripts must be accompanied by a detailed point-by-point response.
• The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision.
-
Ethical Considerations and Similarity Screening
• Authors must comply with JASTE’s Publication Ethics.
• Plagiarism, duplicate submission, data fabrication, data falsification, image manipulation, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, and undisclosed conflicts of interest are prohibited.
• All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism-detection software.
• Similarity results are evaluated according to the nature and distribution of the matched text, not solely by the overall similarity percentage.
• Research involving human participants, personal data, biomedical devices, animals, hazardous materials, environmental risks, or safety-critical systems must comply with applicable ethical, legal, institutional, and technical requirements.
• Ethical approval, informed consent, safety procedures, funding sources, data availability, and conflicts of interest must be reported whenever applicable.
-
Copyright and Open Access
• Authors retain copyright to their work while granting JASTE the right to publish the accepted manuscript.
• Published articles are made freely available under the journal’s applicable open-access licence.
• Authors are responsible for ensuring that all submitted materials comply with copyright and licensing requirements.
Submission of a manuscript confirms that all authors have read, understood, and agreed to the Author Guidelines, Focus and Scope, Publication Ethics, Peer Review Process, Copyright Notice, and other editorial policies of JASTE.
