Authors must prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the guidelines and official article template of the Journal of Quality Management and Business (JQMB). Manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements may be returned to the authors before entering the peer-review process.

JQMB accepts manuscripts written in either Indonesian or English.

Manuscript Requirements

Submitted manuscripts must:

• Be original scholarly works within the focus and scope of quality management and business.

• Be written in either Indonesian or English using clear, consistent, formal, and academically appropriate language.

• Present original research, conceptual analysis, a systematic literature review, or an applied study.

• Provide a meaningful theoretical, empirical, methodological, managerial, or practical contribution.

• Not have been previously published or be under consideration by another journal.

• Have a similarity index of no more than 25%, excluding the reference list and properly cited quotations.

• Use the official JQMB article template.

• Comply with applicable research ethics and publication ethics requirements.

Submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is strictly prohibited. The copyright and licensing provisions for accepted articles are governed by the JQMB Copyright Notice and Open Access Policy.

Manuscript Language

JQMB accepts manuscripts written in either Indonesian or English. Authors must use one language consistently throughout the manuscript.

Manuscripts written in Indonesian must use formal and academically appropriate Indonesian in accordance with applicable Indonesian spelling and language conventions. Manuscripts written in English must use grammatically correct and academically appropriate English.

Regardless of the language used in the main text, every manuscript must include:

• A title in Indonesian and English

• An abstract in Indonesian and English

• Keywords in Indonesian and English

Technical terms, abbreviations, and foreign expressions must be used consistently and explained when first mentioned. The editorial team may request language editing when a manuscript requires substantial linguistic improvement.

General Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts must comply with the following formatting requirements:

• Paper size: A4 (210 mm × 297 mm).

• Margins: 3.5 cm at the top and bottom, 2 cm on the left, and 2.5 cm on the right.

• Font: Gill Sans MT, 10 pt.

• Line spacing: 1.5, unless otherwise specified in the official article template.

• Paragraphs: no first-line indentation, with appropriate spacing between paragraphs.

• Manuscript length: a maximum of 15 pages, including tables, figures, and references.

• Headings and subheadings: bold, written in Title Case, and presented without numbering unless otherwise specified in the template.

• Foreign terms that have not been incorporated into the language of the manuscript should be written in italics.

• Abbreviations must be defined when first mentioned and used consistently throughout the manuscript.

• Page layout, page numbering, and other technical formatting must follow the official JQMB article template.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must:

• Be placed within the manuscript immediately after they are first mentioned.

• Be numbered consecutively according to their order of appearance.

• Have concise, clear, and informative titles.

• Include a source below the table or figure when adapted or reproduced from another work.

• Be mentioned, interpreted, and explained in the main text.

• Be presented in an editable format whenever possible.

• Have sufficient resolution and remain legible in the final publication layout.

• Avoid duplicating information already presented in the text.

Table titles must be placed above the tables, while figure titles must be placed below the figures. Tables must use single-line spacing and should not contain vertical lines.

The combined number of tables and figures should generally not exceed five unless additional tables or figures are essential to the study and approved by the editor.

Manuscript Structure

Title

The title must be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the principal content of the manuscript. It should avoid uncommon abbreviations, overly broad expressions, and unnecessarily long wording.

The title must be provided in Indonesian and English, written in uppercase and bold using Gill Sans MT 12 pt. The title in the language used for the main text must be presented first, followed by its translation.

Author Names and Affiliations

Authors’ full names must be written without academic or professional titles. Each author must provide:

• Institutional affiliation

• City and country

• Active email address

• ORCID iD, when available

One author must be clearly identified as the corresponding author. All listed authors must have made substantial scholarly contributions to the manuscript and approved the submitted version.

Individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria must not be listed as authors. Individuals or institutions that provided limited technical, administrative, or financial support may be mentioned in the Acknowledgments section.

Abstract

Every manuscript must include an abstract in both Indonesian and English, regardless of the language used in the main text. The abstract in the language of the main text must be presented first, followed by its translation.

Each abstract must be written as a single paragraph and should contain approximately 150–250 words. It must concisely describe:

• The research background or principal problem

• The research objective

• The method

• The principal findings

• The conclusion

• The theoretical, managerial, or practical implications

The Indonesian and English abstracts must convey equivalent information. Abstracts must not contain citations, tables, figures, uncommon abbreviations, or information that is not discussed in the manuscript.

The abstract must use Gill Sans MT 9 pt with single-line spacing. The English abstract should be written in italics when required by the official JQMB article template.

Keywords

Authors must provide three to five keywords in both Indonesian and English. Keywords must represent the principal concepts of the manuscript, be arranged alphabetically, and be separated by semicolons.

The Indonesian and English keywords must convey equivalent concepts. Unnecessary abbreviations and terms that are too general should be avoided.

Introduction

The Introduction must provide:

• The background and context of the study

• The principal research problem

• A concise and critical synthesis of relevant literature

• The identified theoretical, empirical, methodological, or practical research gap

• The novelty or distinctive contribution of the study

• The research objective or research questions

• Research hypotheses, when applicable

The Introduction should demonstrate why the study is necessary and explain how it contributes to the development of theory or practice in quality management and business.

Authors should avoid presenting an excessively broad background or merely listing previous studies without critical synthesis.

Literature Review and Hypothesis Development

When applicable, this section should critically synthesize relevant theories and previous research. It must establish the theoretical foundation of the study and explain the relationships among the concepts, variables, or constructs being investigated.

Research hypotheses or propositions must be logically derived from relevant theories and previous empirical findings. Each hypothesis or proposition must be clearly stated.

A conceptual or research framework may be included when it strengthens the explanation of the study. For manuscripts in which the theoretical discussion is adequately integrated into the Introduction, a separate literature review section is not mandatory.

Research Method

The Research Method section must provide sufficient information to enable readers to understand, evaluate, and, where appropriate, replicate the study. It should explain:

• Research design and approach

• Research setting and period

• Population and sample

• Sampling method and sample-size justification

• Variables, constructs, or research focus

• Operational definitions or measurement indicators

• Data sources and data-collection procedures

• Research instruments

• Instrument validity and reliability, when applicable

• Data-analysis techniques

• Ethical approval and informed consent, when applicable

The method must be written in coherent paragraphs. Subsections may be used when necessary to explain complex procedures.

For quantitative studies, authors must clearly describe the measurement instruments, sampling procedures, statistical techniques, and criteria used to evaluate the results.

For qualitative studies, authors must explain participant or informant selection, data-collection procedures, analytical techniques, and strategies used to ensure the credibility or trustworthiness of the findings.

For mixed-methods studies, authors must explain the quantitative and qualitative components, the sequence or priority of each component, and how the findings were integrated.

For systematic literature reviews, authors must describe:

• The databases or information sources

• The search strategy and search period

• Inclusion and exclusion criteria

• Study-selection process

• Quality-assessment procedure

• Data-extraction process

• Evidence-synthesis method

Systematic reviews should use an appropriate reporting guideline, such as PRISMA, and include a study-selection flow diagram when applicable.

For conceptual papers, the section may be adapted to explain the literature-selection procedure, theoretical perspective, analytical approach, and process used to develop the framework or propositions.

Results

The Results section must present the study findings clearly, accurately, objectively, and systematically. Findings should be organized according to the research objectives, questions, or hypotheses.

Tables and figures may be used when they improve the presentation and interpretation of the evidence. Authors must avoid repeating identical information in the text, tables, and figures.

Statistical results must include relevant information, such as:

• Test statistics

• Coefficients

• Significance levels

• Confidence intervals

• Effect sizes

• Model-fit indicators

• Other appropriate analytical measures

Qualitative findings should be organized into clearly defined themes or categories and supported by appropriate evidence. The presentation of findings must protect the identity and confidentiality of participants.

Discussion

The Discussion must:

• Interpret the principal findings rather than merely repeat the results.

• Relate the findings to the research objectives, questions, or hypotheses.

• Compare the findings with relevant theories and previous studies.

• Explain similarities, differences, contradictions, and unexpected findings.

• Clarify the study’s theoretical contribution.

• Explain managerial, organizational, policy, or practical implications.

• Acknowledge the limitations of the study.

• Identify relevant directions for future research.

The discussion must be based on the evidence generated by the study. Authors should avoid unsupported generalizations, exaggerated claims, and conclusions that exceed the scope of the data.

The Results and Discussion may be presented as separate sections or combined into one section, depending on the type and design of the manuscript.

Conclusion

The Conclusion must concisely answer the research objectives or questions and summarize the study’s principal findings and contributions.

The Conclusion should explain the theoretical, managerial, or practical implications of the study without merely repeating the abstract or discussion. Recommendations may be included when they are directly supported by the findings.

New data, citations, tables, and figures must not be introduced in this section.

Acknowledgments

Authors may acknowledge individuals or institutions that contributed to the study but do not meet the criteria for authorship. Financial, technical, administrative, or institutional assistance may also be acknowledged briefly.

The consent of individuals whose names are included in the Acknowledgments section should be obtained before manuscript submission.

Funding Statement

Authors must identify all sources of financial support and include the relevant grant or contract number when applicable.

If the research received funding, the following format may be used:

“This research was funded by [name of funding institution], grant number [grant number].”

If the research did not receive specific funding, the authors should state:

“This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.”

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, personal, professional, commercial, or institutional interests that could influence or reasonably be perceived to influence the research and its interpretation.

If no conflict of interest exists, the authors should state:

“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

Author Contributions

The manuscript must include a statement describing each author’s contribution to the study and manuscript preparation. Contributions may include:

• Conceptualization

• Methodology

• Data collection

• Formal analysis

• Investigation

• Validation

• Writing of the original draft

• Review and editing

• Visualization

• Supervision

• Project administration

• Funding acquisition

All authors must review and approve the final version of the manuscript and accept responsibility for the integrity of the published work.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, personal data, confidential organizational information, or animals must comply with applicable ethical principles and legal requirements.

Authors must provide the name of the ethics committee, approval number, and approval date when ethical approval is required. The manuscript must also explain how informed consent was obtained when the research involves human participants.

If ethical approval was not required, the authors should provide an appropriate explanation.

Data Availability Statement

Authors should include a statement explaining the availability of the data supporting the study’s findings. The statement may indicate that the data are:

• Publicly available in a specified repository

• Available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request

• Restricted because of ethical, legal, organizational, or confidentiality considerations

• Included in the manuscript and its supplementary materials

• Not applicable to the type of manuscript submitted

Authors must not disclose confidential or personally identifiable information.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors must transparently disclose any use of generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of the manuscript.

Artificial intelligence tools must not be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, or ethical compliance of the work.

Authors remain fully responsible for:

• The accuracy and originality of the manuscript

• Verification of all facts, data, citations, and references

• Protection of confidential and personal information

• Disclosure of relevant AI-assisted processes

• Compliance with publication ethics

The use of artificial intelligence to fabricate data, generate false references, manipulate findings, or conceal plagiarism is strictly prohibited.

References

The reference list must:

• Contain at least 20 relevant scholarly sources.

• Prioritize peer-reviewed journal articles and authoritative academic sources.

• Primarily use literature published within the last 10 years, except for seminal theories and foundational works.

• Include only sources cited in the manuscript.

• Ensure that every in-text citation appears in the reference list and every listed reference is cited in the manuscript.

• Follow the APA 7th edition author–date citation style.

• Include a DOI in active URL format whenever available.

• Be checked carefully for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference-management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

Excessive self-citation, citation manipulation, references unrelated to the manuscript, and citations from unreliable or unverifiable sources are not permitted.

Supplementary Materials

Authors may submit supplementary materials that support the manuscript, such as research instruments, additional tables, datasets, analytical procedures, interview guides, or other relevant documents.

Supplementary materials must be clearly identified and referred to in the main text. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, legality, confidentiality, and ethical compliance of all supplementary files.

Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the JQMB online submission system. Authors must complete all required metadata, including:

• Manuscript title in Indonesian and English

• Abstract in Indonesian and English

• Keywords in Indonesian and English

• Full names of all authors

• Institutional affiliations

• Countries

• Email addresses

• ORCID iDs, when available

• Complete reference list

The uploaded manuscript must follow the official JQMB article template and must not contain information that conflicts with the metadata entered into the submission system.

Submission of a manuscript indicates that all authors:

• Have read and complied with these Author Guidelines.

• Have approved the submitted version.

• Agree with the order of authorship.

• Confirm that the manuscript is original.

• Confirm that the manuscript is not being considered by another journal.

• Accept responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical compliance of the work.
